And so, Dragi the receptionist, in real life Bora Nenić, remains silent…
Just as we wisely kept silent when we announced on social media the imminent opening of the Balkan Hotel in Banja Luka. When inquiries about its exact location, capacities, and accommodation prices started coming in, it was already time to let our first telenovela creation fend for itself in the outside world.
Thus, a century after the actual “Balkan” hotel existed in Banja Luka, we unraveled the ribbon on 60 episodes of the drama series bearing the same name.
Four generations of the distinguished Kuruzović family and just as many fates are contained within “Hotel Balkan.” Much more than just four of anything can be measured in our production engagement. We were lucky both in cards and in love.
Building a film studio from scratch, tackling the highly demanding scenography, bringing some of the biggest acting names of the time in the region, and giving an opportunity to our own, young artistic forces… when all that is mixed together, we get a real Bosnian pot, which, you must admit, is fitting to serve in a hospitality-cinematic Balkan. Right alongside “Kraj tanana šadrvana” one of the most beautiful “sevdalinke” of our region, which Dženan Lončarević sang as the series’ theme song.
In the turbulent pandemic year, full of challenges, we took a step forward and created opportunities ourselves. We were, in every sense, the wind underneath the wings of the Bosonoga production, a pioneer of cinematography in the Republic of Srpska.
Over time, along with the secrets of our hotel, numerous sins, conflicts, hidden loves surfaced… followed by two gold medals (sound for the theme song and PR) and one silver medal (in the category of print and publications/printed ads) at the No Limit Advertising Festival in Sarajevo, 2021, as well as the fight for the title of “Best Regional Series from the shown in Serbia” at the Festival of Dramas and Series FEDIS, in the same year.
